A little scrap wood can go a long way! Everything but the metal bowl, the faucet, and the hardware (hinges, light, and binding posts) was made from scraps. The colored paint was mixed using indoor acrylic white and red and blue craft paint mixed with the white. I used glue and pegs for the joints (no screws except for the hinges), sealed any spaces and cracks with clear silicone, polyacrylic spray for the finish , and wood/metal epoxy puddy for bonding the metal bowl. I employed a jigsaw, hand mitre saw, my beloved makita, table saw (thanks to K.R. for the use of his time and saw - otherwise I’d still be hand cutting the pieces!), rubber mallet, and self feeding sawtooth bits. It has a 2” kick set 2” in, and a 5” splash. The hearts on the top shelf supports are kind of lame, but it was my first time using a jigsaw. There is a 4” shelf underneath the oven and a recessed shelf inside the fridge. The total damage was around $25 since I had already had the materials, paints, and hardware. The bowl was $2 from a Goodwill store. The LED light inside of the oven and the utensil rack on the side were each $1 from the 99 cent store. I found the faucet for $3 on <a target="_blank" href="http://www.ebay.com">ebay</a>.</p> <p>I actually promised this to Ruth for when she mastered the potty and was able to sleep in her bed and we could mover her crib out, but that was a long time ago and I didn’t have the time to construct it until recently.
